Author BIO

Rhonda Plumhoff a native Californian is married and a mother of 4. Rhonda worked as a full time trained Optician for many years, but knew in her heart something was missing. Reading romance novels and creating new recipes were her passions in life, and the one thing that made her soul come to life. One day she realized book characters spoke to her through food and related everything she read as a potential new recipe. Erotic stories were missing one key element, food and not just food, but sexy food that would set the mood for those special moments. After meeting a few authors and discussing her ideas, she asked if she could create recipes for their characters. The response from the writing community was overwhelming.  What was once a dream has now become a reality and a full time job. Every story and every literary character live through Rhonda as food.

With two new books of mouthwatering and sexy recipes, Rhonda Plumhoff's two newest books Literary Chocolate a Second helping and her Erotic Treats cookbook, I decided to give you all another dish on Rhonda Plumhoff.  Rhonda truly is making leaps and bounds with her decadent recipes and this combination of scrumptious dishes with sensual stories.

Q:  We see you put out a new sexy cookbook titled Erotic Treats. How did this idea transpire?

Rhonda:  I have a couple of friends who write Erotic Romance who kept pushing me in this direction. No matter how frustrating the process was they would not stop until the project was completed. Food inspires romance, and they convinced me the two were a natural fit.

Q:  I know you have lots of things in the fire.  I would like to discuss your new Facebook page men read romance. What are your hopes for this page? How did this page come to light?

Rhonda:  I’m not quite sure where this page will end up. I was actually tired of never having anything to discuss with my husband, I wanted him to read something he considered a girls book. He was pleasantly surprise by what he read. My original intention was to pull your typical male reader out of his comfort zone and introduce him to books that are generally labeled women’s books; either by getting them to read books that had some romance but not pushing it down their throats or introducing new Genres of Romance. I hope to one day have a small panel of men that female writers can go to as a resource for ideas and communication.

Q: The cover for erotic treats is so different from the others you have.  Who designed your cover for this book?

Rhonda: I have used the same designer and Illustrator for all of my books, the amazing Tabitha Quintana. The only big difference was the photograph and photographer. Tabitha has always shot the covers as well as designed them for me. For Erotic Treats I bought the image from a stock image company and put Tabitha to work on the vision that was in my head for the cover. She did an amazing job.

Q:  You intertwine short erotic stories with enticing recipes. Where did the idea come to entangle the two?

Rhonda:  Food, romance, sex kind of all go hand in hand. Certain foods are considered sexy foods; they arouse sexual feelings or just generally make you feel sexy. I took those foods and created the recipes, and then with the help of some amazing friends they wrote short stories around the recipes.

Q:  There are some very um clears throat very evocative titles for your recipes.   Where did the titles come from?

Rhonda:  That’s very funny, naming recipes has always been my down fall. A few recipes were inspired by sexy male characters in books that I happen to be reading at the time I was developing recipes. Others were puns off the ingredients. Best part was a chat forum I was in one night, I put them all to work throwing out random words and name to finish the titles. We had so much fun naming some of the recipes.

Q:  I notice the last few recipes have vaguely familiar names attached.  How did you choose those particular names and why?

Rhonda:  Those particular guys really fire up my imagination, when I was stuck for idea’s I would read their stories again and the creative flow would start again. So as a tribute to them I felt they needed to be included in some way.

Q:  Now let’s discuss literary chocolate 2.  Will we see the same beloved characters or new ones in this new cookbook?

Rhonda:  I had so much fun writing this book, there are all new characters in this book. I believe there are 5 returning authors but with different characters. 18 authors in all and 35 character recipes.

Q:  How did the idea come about to write a literary chocolate cookbook 2?

Rhonda:  I had so much response to book one, that I had left over characters (no pun intended) from book one. I had authors asking me to create recipes for their own books, for their characters to prepare. Before I knew it I had a stack of characters that needed recipes and a home to put them in. So we started book 2.

Q:  What is the process it takes for you to write a cookbook especially the ones like literary chocolate which includes characters from your favorite books?

Rhonda:  It’s an odd process well for me. I begin with a general outline, theme or ingredient. Everything I do, everywhere I go and everything I read will trigger some sort of idea. I carry note pads with me everywhere because I never know when an idea will hit me and what ingredients I will need. You will find notes everywhere in my house and I mean everywhere. The hardest part for me and I see it happen to others as well, I want to work on chocolate recipes today but my brain is shooting out pumpkin recipes and vice versa. So I’m usually always writing recipes down, I may have no idea what I’m going to do with them but their there.  I have stacks of recipes that I have no idea what to do with.

Q:  Do you have any more cookbooks in the fire so to speak?

Rhonda:  I’m going to take some time away from the cookbooks, after 9 in 16 months my brain is fried. I’ll focus on other areas of my life. Eventually I want to write a 3rd pumpkin book, the recipes are already created I just need to pull it together. I’ve started a girl’s night in, kind of recipe and party idea book. I have a few recipes that I want to work into a book about kicking up old school recipes with today’s ingredients. The books are all there so eventually they’ll want to come out and play.

Q:  Out of all the cookbooks do you have a favorite recipe that you like to prepare for your family?

Rhonda:  YES!!! In the new Literary Chocolate, a second helping there are 2 recipes that my family and friends fell in love with and constantly ask me to make. One is a steak with a wine and mushroom sauce, girlfriends love it and request it for girls nights. Then a Norwegian chocolate cake that my daughters fell in love with and both requested as their birthday cakes last year.

Q:  Would you ever consider writing other books besides cookbooks?

Rhonda:  I wish I had that kind of talent; I love to read and think if my books were taken away I would lose my mind. But I also know where my talents lie and it’s not in writing. My oldest daughter shows promise in that area but I think I will stick to the kitchen. I don’t consider what I do as writing as much as creating and to me you need to be able to do both to write a character the world will love.

Book Description

The day Kate Callahan steps through the doors of KHB as their newest reporter and meets photographer Rich Spencer her world is turned upside down. There is something about the way he caresses her with his eyes, speaks to her without saying a word, and lights her skin aflame with a simple touch that makes her rethink everything she’s ever known. A Mythical Story of epic proportions

It's a Lion, a bird no its.........

All 18-year-old Celeste Garrett wants is to head off to college and make those fun, yet ill-advised, choices college kids are known for. And maybe to spend some time with the hot cameraman she just met. Instead, because of a pact her ancestors made in the 17th century with a mythical creature, she has to save the world.
While normal kids are slamming energy drinks and cramming for exams, Celeste will get her adrenaline rush fighting a fire breathing dragon. She wants to meet friends in the quad to exchange lecture notes, but first she must exchange blows with a shapeshifting demon on the rooftop. Life isn’t always fair for a superhero, but at least she doesn’t have to do it alone. With her brother and sister as sidekicks, they alternate between saving lives and getting on each others’ nerves. Together the trio encounters unspeakable odds, mystical forces and comes face-to-face with an image that will haunt them forever—their grandmother in a leopard print bikini.
"Okay, little side note here. If a psychopathic killer asks if you want to see a trick, say no. That’s the smart thing to do. I, on the other hand, responded, 'Bring it'."

My Thoughts

Have you ever wanted to be a superhero, well Celeste just wanted to be a normal college kid but things so didn’t go as planned.  Imagine three siblings who emerge into powers beyond their wildest dreams.    In her first in the Gryphon series, The Conduit, Stacey Rourke has succeeded in reaching for the stars.  Celeste being the oldest sibling must protect her family at all costs.  She must call on a higher power, an ancient magical creature to help save her family.  This is her destiny and one she will gladly accept to fight the enemy.  The author’s witty and humorous one liners will keep you entertained till the end.  The plot is well thought out and will leave you wanting more.  A must read for fans of anything mythical.

Gerry Bartlett lives in Texas, halfway between Houston and Galveston. Her antique business on the historic Strand on the island is open again after it went under eight feet of water during Hurricane Ike. When she's not treasure hunting for the store, she loves heading to the Texas capitol of Austin where she imagines her vampire Glory St.Clair of the Real Vampire series has her own antique business and vintage clothing shop. You can read more about Gerry and her series at and find links to her fan sites there. She's shown here in her back yard with dog Jet, a whippet. He's her alarm clock and literary muse, keeping her company when she's at the computer. Gerry loves to hear from readers and you can reach her from her web site or by snail mail at P.O. Box 101, League City, TX 77574-0101. She previously wrote as Lynn McKay and you might find her Regency historical available on Amazon too.

Years ago, my mom told me that every girl/woman needed to read at least one romance with a pirate or a Scotsman as the love interest/hero.  She promptly took me to the bookstore and placed me in the romance section to choose. She thought I would go for the sexy men in kilts. Well I did.  I just added something extra; or as we in Louisiana like to say; lagniappe. Yes that is right.  I picked up the book with a curvaceous vampire on the front. It was a little strange because my vampire knowledge up to that point was that all vampires were skinny.  Well, a new age has dawned!  Mrs. Bartlett has turned the curvy vampire into a milestone. And I love her for it. Oh and FYI  there is sexy Scotsman with kilt to boot. But to find out if Scottish vampires wear anything under THEIR kilts, well you will just have to read the books and ask Glory his vampire.........

Q:  You own a vintage store so does Glory.  When did you first realize you loved vintage clothing and items?
Gerry:  After I quit teaching, I was looking for something to get me out of the house when I wasn't writing. A friend of mine had always wanted me to hit estate sales with her. When I finally did, I was hooked.

Q:  Jerry is a vampire from Scotland have you ever been to Scotland is there a pull to this beautiful country?
Gerry:  My maiden name is McKay so I have Scottish roots, but I’d never been to Scotland until I started writing Real Vampires Have Hips Happen. I decided Glory was going to pursue Jerry to Castle Campbell and wanted to see if for myself. I met some friends in northern England and we drove there. Had a great time exploring Edinburgh and Dollar, the town where Castle Campbell is located. It is beautiful there.

Q:  Why did you decide to go with a curvy vampire as your main character?
Gerry: A friend suggested the idea and I could certainly relate to a woman with figure issues. I’ve always fought my own weight. It was the fact that Glory was slightly overweight that sold my series to Berkley Publishing.

Q:  Who is your favorite vintage designer?
Gerry:  I love Pucci prints. I’d be thrilled if I found one of his dresses or tops one day in a thrift store. They were popular in the sixties.

Q:  What is your favorite pastime when not writing?
Gerry:  Shopping. I’m terrible. I love to shop, not just for antiques and vintage finds but I have a purse collection that’s out of control.

Q:  If you had the chance to meet some who inspired you from the past who would it be and what would you talk about?
Gerry:  That’s a tough one. Jackie Kennedy had such style but I’d be too intimidated to say anything!

Q:  Ian McDonald for all those who read your books have special antidotes for vampire to do things they normally can't do i.e. go out in the sun.  If he could make something for you what would you want him to make?
Gerry:  That magic pill that would make me the perfect size I’ve always wanted to be—a six I guess. I’d love that!

Q:  What is your greatest accomplishment in life?
Gerry:  My son, he’s a fine man and a great husband and father. I am so proud of him.

Q:  If you could go back in time where would you go and what era?
Gerry:  Not going back. I love our technology now. I have lived without microwaves and cell phones. Never again. And when we have hurricanes down here, I’ve had a few weeks without electricity. Spare me.

Q:  Authors experience a lot while writing what is the funniest thing you have experienced while doing anything with writing, book signing etc?
Gerry:  I have a lot of fun writing. I actually crack myself up with some of the stuff I write. As for fans at signings, they are great. I love to meet them and have had only good things happen. My first one was a dream come true. All my friends and family came. It’s still a rush to see a book with my name on it on the shelves. I do grab people in the book stores and show them my books if I see they are carrying around someone else’s vampire or paranormal books. Usually they are happy to meet me. But I do show them my picture in the back, to confirm I am the author and not some crazy lady. Well, crazy but I did write the book.

Q:  Besides glory and blade who is your favorite character in your books and why?
Gerry:  I admit I am in love with Israel Caine, the rock star. That’s why in Real Vampires Hate Skinny Jeans, he and Glory finally get together. I couldn't wait. My editor was reluctant, she’s Blade and Glory all the way, but she agreed it was time. Anyway, I guess Ray’s my fantasy man. He was for Glory too. She had to go there at least once. He sang to her! How cool was that? As far as being a keeper? Well, not so sure about that. We may be attracted to bad boys, but they don’t make good life partners.

You can find a complete list of Gerry's books on her website or goodreads and they can be purchased at your local bookstore or!!!!!

Dr. Seuss and the Cat in the Hat Presents NEA Read Across America Day

The National Education Association is building a nation of readers through its signature program, NEA’s Read Across America.  One of the programs being celebrated is the famous Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss. The association in its 16th year,is a full year-round program focusing on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources. So without further ado let's get reading.  You are never to old to read to your children and they may just get something from it and enjoy the experience.  Theodor Seuss Geisel would have turned 109 on March 2 this year. This cherished children’s authors birthday will be celebrated by the one and only ambassador of READ ACROSS AMERICA The cat in the hat himself.  Pick up a book and go ahead no hesitation and read to your child.

Dr. Seuss wrote many favorite characters that are loved though out his life time and well after his death.

You have the mischievous Thing 1 and Thing 2.  They have fun with the Cat in the Hat and making a mess then cleaning it up.  Any child will have fun with this story.

Then you can read Green Eggs and Ham which is a classic favorite.  Would you eat Green eggs and Ham.  I think Sam did at the end he realized they were not as bad as he thought and actually liked them.

Or you can read the Lorax.  A lesson in learning to preserve the land and the trees and being kind to nature.  And one should realize that money does not make one happy it is family and friends.

But no matter what story you read to your child, the important thing is to read to them.  Dr. Seuss's imaginative stories and characters will bring fun and enjoyment to any child's life.  And you may also get something out of the experience as well.
