Make your wish or Not!!!!

Be careful what you wish for.

Book Description

Mags has lived in hiding most of her life. One of the two last jinn of her kind, she's being hunted by one of the kings of Hades and the menacing Elf King Abel for her power. When one disastrous date sends her on the run, Mags knows her life will never be the same. The question is, will she survive it?

My Thoughts

Mistfall, Olivia Martinez debut novel was terrific. I enjoyed every moment I was reading it. This is truly a story like no other about genies. There is a twist to the norm, there are no magic lamps. This is a magic carpet ride through the life of a genie. With a number of elements from Celtic Mythology it is filled with all kinds of magical creatures from pixies, the Fae, werewolves and even a goddess.
Mags, is a gal to pull no punches. She has extensive powers that are not fully discovered. Pull up a spot on the couch; you will enjoy the ride she will take you on.

HP Mallory's recent went southern book tour graced cities like Houston, New Orleans , Atlanta and Charlotte with her bubbly personality.  She was genuinely pleased and excited to meet everyone.  We were all very welcomed to the event!

HP Mallory's book signing was held at the Historic CafĂ© Dumonde in the French Quarter.   Only thing better then the Cafe's  delicous, famous beignets and French donuts heavily dusted with powdery sugar and chicory coffee mixture known as cafe' au lait, was the delightful author/hostess we all ventured far to meet.

HP started her meet and greet with a discussion about her recent "fresh off of a Haunted History Tour," in the Historic French Quarter.  She was now, eagerly ready to sign our books, discuss her wonderful characters and get to know us.
As a special surprise she gave  us a pop quiz to test everyone's knowledge of the Jolie Wilkins series.  Here are a few of the questions she asked.

1.  What did Rand, Sinjin and Jolie wear to Bella's  Halloween party?
2.  How old was Sinjin?
3.  Where was Jolie from?
4.  What is the name of Jolie's cat?
The winner won a beautiful bracelet created by Faith Martens

HP asked everyone in her gathering to introduce themselves and who their favorite male and female character was. Her fans were ecstatic and answered her questions eagerly.

The topic then moved the Facebook page, created by five friends who met through HP's online book club, which in turn , inspired author Nathanial Parkinson's three-book series. ( a future interview).

HP Mallory's excellence has touched us all.  She creates new worlds in our imagination.  Her gift has inspried another author to dip his quill into the ink and grace us with his imaginings as well.  Thank you HP Mallory, for the wonder you have brought to so many of us.  It was an absolute pleasure and I truly thank you for your time ad gift you so eloquently share with your readers.  We certainly love what you do so well.

Where else but New Orleans Louisiana a city, famous for paranormal activity should HP Mallory happen to come and visit.  She could not have found a better place to get ideas for writing her paranormal romances.  A city which is famous for hauntings and the occasional sightings of the renowned voodoo priestess.   We were blessed to have best selling author HP Mallory come to this historic city which some say has more vampires, ghosts, witches, ghouls and lets not forget the infamous voodoo queen Marie Laveaux.

Sara M. Ross

About the Author:

I started my obsession with reading at an early age, getting in trouble for sneaking BabySitter Club and Nancy Drew books into math class in elementary school. I would read any fiction book I could get my hands on. I knew it was an addiction when instead of grounding me from TV or music, my mom would take away my books as punishment (The Horror!). My love of all things paranormal was inspired by my good friend Laurie, who convinced me that books with vampires, witches, and all things shifter were amazing. After a little reluctance, I gave it a shot with the Sookie Stackhouse books, realized she was right, and the rest was history.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with my degree in English, and taught 8th graders to love reading as much as I do for several years. I will always be a proud member of the Steelers Nation, but I couldn't take the cold and moved my frozen tush to Florida where I now live with my family and two cats. You will find me now with my trusty Kindle in hand and toes in the sand!

When I'm not writing or reading, I am probably partaking in my favorite vice: sunbathing. I know it's wrong, but I love the feeling on the hot sun on my skin and could lay in it for hours. I do live in Florida for a reason!

Please feel free to contact me!

Rose Pressey is an Amazon Top 100 bestselling author. She enjoys writing quirky and fun novels with a paranormal twist. The paranormal has always captured her interest. The thought of finding answers to the unexplained fascinates her.
When she's not writing about werewolves, vampires and every other supernatural creature, she loves eating cupcakes with sprinkles, reading, spending time with family, and listening to oldies from the fifties.
Rose lives in the beautiful commonwealth of Kentucky with her husband, son and three sassy Chihuahuas.

Rose Pressey has a wonderful flair for making you feel invited right into the center of the French Quarter. She described the scenery and food in such detail, you can see and taste the "descriptions." You will join the characters as you sit down in the Cafe Du Monde and enjoy the mouth-watering beignets.
Lean back, hear the hooves on the cobblestones and enjoy the ride, in a horse-drawn carriage through the Historic French Quarter with Rose and her Rylie Cruz characters. You may be surprised at running into me, at the famous Cafe after Rose Pressey's delectable suggestions as well as maybe a Cafe' au Lait.

And for now, as they say in New Orleans, "Laissez les bons temp rouler" ... Let the good times roll!

Q:  Where did the idea come about of a matchmaking service for paranormals in your Rylie Cruz originate from?
Rose:  I figured that werewolves, vampires , and other paranormals have just as much trouble navigating the social scene as everyone else.  The idea for Rylie just popped into my head one day.

Q:  What drew you to New Orleans to have it as the location/setting of this series
Rose:  I love New Orleans.  My husband and I were there for the first time a few years ago and it is just a magical place.  I love historic locations.  If any place could be home to paranormal creatures, I think the Big Easy would be it.

Q:  They say authors pull ideas from their lives.  Have you ever gone to a matchmaker?
Rose:  I haven't been to a matchmaker.  I once fixed up a couple of friends and they are married over two years later,  I'm still looking for someone for my husband's brother.  So i f there are any single ladies reading this.....LOL

Q:  In most books, the male character is the werewolf; but you made the female character the werewolf.  Is there a reason?
Rose:  I like strong female characters and wanted ti show she could be a tough werewolf if need be.

Q:  May we look forward to more adventures with Rylie and Jack and the gang?
Rose:  Possibly.  I'm working on a couple new series, but I'd still like to write a couple more Rylie books in the future.

Q:  We know you write a number of other series.  Do you have any upcoming releases in any of your other series?
Rose:  The Haunted Fixer-Upper will be out later this month.  That's book two in the Haunted Renovation Mystery series.  In January I'm releasing Spells, Demons, and Rock 'n' Roll.  That's the second book in the Veronica Mason Series.

Q:  Aside from the assorted current series you have on the market, do you have any future plans for other series?
Rose:  Yes, I do have a couple new series in the works.  I'm not sure about release just yet.  Both of the books are paranormal romantic mysteries.

Q:  What do you do on days you are not writing?  What do you enjoy doing?
Rose:  I write almost every day.  When I'm not writing I'm usually answering emails, marketing, and promoting my books.  I work seven days a week at it.  But I try to take a little time for myself just to relax and unwind.  Of course I like to read, decorate my home, make crafts, play with my dogs, and explore historic locations when I get the chance.

Q:  Alright; we all know you love cupcakes.  What is your favorite flavor and do you have a particular place you enjoy going to get them?
Rose:  I do love cupcakes.  Believe it or not, I don't eat them often.  LOL... If I can't eat cupcakes though at least like to look at them.  I do treat myself to my favorite sweet occasionally.  I never had a favorite place to get cupcakes until recently.  There's a new little shop in a nearby historic town that has the best German Chocolate cupcakes I've ever had.  I think the cupcakes I bake are the best though.  They may not be perfect or the tastiest to others, but I love them.  My favorite is chocolate with vanilla frosting.  Okay, I've talked way too much about cupcakes for now. LOL...

Q:  In the Ryle Cruz series, you have stated rules at the beginning/before each chapter. Is there a reason?
Rose:  I thought about all the things that would make dating a werewolf hard or troublesome.  Who knew there would be so many.

Christie Meierz was born in Chicago, brought up in Southern California, married in West Virginia, brought up her children in upstate New York, and now lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her husband, one of her four sons, her piano, and a very sharp oboe. When she's not writing, she enjoys reading, quilting, knitting, and trying to keep her menfolk from telling odious puns.

Do you believe in aliens?  Well I had the pleasure of chatting with Christie Meierz about her new book "The Maraan".  Set in the 26th century her book The Marran is a scifi love story.  So let's step aboard the ship and get ready for a wonderful and joyous journey to another planet.

Q: We understand this is your first book. What made you decide to write a Science Fiction?
Christie:  I grew up mostly reading science fiction and sneaking my mother’s romance novels to read. It seemed natural to combine the two. That said, it’s really more speculative fiction than science fiction. I’m playing with some what-ifs.

Q:  We would love to know why you decided to write your book in a futuristic setting, which is far from the norm?

Christie:  When I first started writing it, I was actually more interested in exploring the possibilities of a planet populated by empaths. The love story wove into it after I’d developed the world.

Q:  Your book is set well into the future.  How would you perceive  the future in the 26th century?
Christie:  The nice thing about speculative fiction is that it can be whatever you want it to be. It’s not very obvious yet in this first novel, but human high society is going through a very neo-Victorian period in the 26th century: lots of randy goings-on behind closed doors, but don’t ever talk about it.  If you do, women blush, and men get uncomfortable.  Other than that, obviously we’ve got faster-than-light travel and instantaneous communication across interstellar distances.  I had to do a lot of research to get the travel times right.

Q:  What does the title The Marann mean?  Is there any significance?

Christie:  Yes, it does, but that would be telling.  :)

Q:  In the book, Marianne speaks many languages.  Can you speak any other language(s)?

Christie:  I speak 4 languages: Russian, French, German, and Spanish, in order of proficiency.

Q:  If given the opportunity,  would you be willing to go to another planet to learn or teach?
Christie:  In a heartbeat!

Q:  Do you believe there are other beings out in space?

Christie:  I don’t have the faintest clue, honestly, but it seems to me that as vast as the universe is, probably anything that can happen will happen, sooner or later. Whether there are other beings out there right now is another question entirely, or if there are, they might be galaxies away.

Q:  Where did you come up with the names for the different aliens and planets?

Christie:  I use fantasy name generators. I set them to spit out a few hundred names, and then play around with the output. I rarely leave a name unmodified.

Q:  What author has been your biggest writing- influence?

Christie:  Anne McCaffrey, hands down. I’ve been reading and re-reading her Pern novels since the 70’s. Other influences are Frank Herbert and his Dune novels, and – believe it or not – Jane Austen.

Q:  What types of books do you enjoy reading?

Christie:  I read a lot of different books. I enjoy a lot of classic science fiction and fantasy. I love romance, especially historical romance, and particularly regency. I read a lot of classic fiction, like Jane Austen and the BrontĂ« sisters. I’ve only recently come to discover urban fantasy and paranormal romance, but I’ve been devouring a lot of those lately – HP Mallory, JR Rain, Jeaniene Frost.
Q:  When you are not working what do you enjoy doing with your free time?

Christie:  I read a lot. I occasionally attend a class or two at University of Pittsburgh, studying music theory (I play piano and oboe) or Spanish. I also do quilting and knitting.

Q:  Are there plans to write more books?

Christie:  Absolutely! The next book in Tales of Tolari Space is written: Daughter of Suralia – look for it in probably early 2013. I have the second half of the third book written, as well as some of the scenes in the fourth.

Q:  If you could  "camouflage" what would you do with this ability?

Christie:  Sit in on classes at the University without having to pay for them.

Q:  The Tolari are empaths in the story. How would you personally feel being near an empath?

Christie:  I’m pretty sure I’d be pretty darn uncomfortable.

Q:  Do you believe people have free choice to do what they want?

Christie:  That’s a deep question. I can freely choose my actions, of course, but I don’t believe I’m free to do whatever I want, no. I have personal, family, and social responsibilities. I have to weigh the benefits to me or mine against the cost to those around me. Life is a balancing act.

Soul Awakening

Soul Awakening is a spiritual mystery/romance story involving the discovery of reincarnation and the past lifetimes of a group of individuals. It is a work of fiction, but was inspired by a series of actual events that were experienced by the author or other individuals known to the author. It involves the apparently accidental, though actually orchestrated by Divine Intervention, meeting of three total strangers, and their ultimate discovery that they shared previous lifetimes together. It includes episodes of spirit communication, messages from God, past-life regression sessions, Guardian Angels, past-life recall in the awake state, and Soul Attraction, which is the reincarnation of groups of souls together, in more than one lifetime, in order to deal with uncompleted Karmic connections from previous lifetimes together.

Excerpt from Soul Awakening:

“I would like you to again picture yourself sliding down the same tunnel as before, sliding towards the light at the end. When you exit from the tunnel, you will land in a different lifetime than the one as Bernice Woodward. Please let me know when you are out of the tunnel.”

After a few seconds, Clippers said, “I am out of the tunnel.”

“Please describe what you see.”

“There is a large crowd, men, women and children, waiting by the side of the path from Capernaum.”

“Who are you waiting for?”

“Who is Jeshua?”

“Jeshua the healer. Our Savior.”

“Are you waiting with the crowd?”

“Is Jeshua a relative or a friend of yours?”

“Why did you come this day to see Jeshua?”

“I brought our son for Jeshua to heal.”

“What is wrong with your son?”

“He has a crippled leg.”

“What is your son’s name?”

“Abraham bar Joseph.”

“Is your husband Joseph there with you?”

“What is your name?”

“I would ask you now to move along in time, just a little, to when Jeshua and His followers or disciples arrive at the spot where the crowd, including Anna and Abraham are waiting. When they arrive there, where you are, will you let me know, please?”

“Yes.” The room went silent, and the seconds slowly ticked by.

“Four of His followers have joined our waiting group. They are telling us that Jeshua will be arriving in a few minutes. The four followers have split up and are circulating amongst the throng of people. One is coming over where we are. He seems to be looking at us, or maybe it is Abraham that caught his attention.

“‘What is the matter with the boy’s leg? Did he break it?’ he is asking me. I told him that Abraham was born crippled. He has put his arm around Abraham’s shoulder and asked us to come along with him. We are moving through the crowd to the edge of the pathway. The people at the south end of the crowd are starting to cheer. I see heads appearing over the knoll. It is wonderful to see Jeshua. We have never seen Him before. He is stopping when He reaches one of His followers. That follower appears to have a blind beggar with him. Jeshua just placed His hand on the beggar’s head, and said something quietly. I am too far away to hear. The beggar is jumping up and down, shouting, ‘I can see! I can see!’ He is now thanking Jeshua.

“They are moving on towards us. The follower beside us is telling Jeshua that Abraham has been crippled from birth. ‘Is that correct?’ Jeshua is asking Abraham. Abraham says, ‘Yes, sir. Please make me well so that I can run and jump like the other boys.’ Jeshua is smiling. ‘My son, your sins are forgiven. Give Me your crutch.’ Abraham hands Jeshua his crutch, and He tosses it on the ground. ‘Now My son, let us see you jump as high as you can,’ Jeshua says. Abraham is hopping around the path like a rabbit. ‘Now,’ Jeshua says, ‘Let’s see you run down to the end of the crowd and back as fast as you can.’ Abraham has taken off moving as fast as I have ever seen any boy run. This is a Miracle. It truly is a Miracle. Abraham has turned around and is charging back towards us. He runs right into Jeshua’s arms and is hugging Him, saying, ‘Thank you! Thank you!’ through his tears.

“The tears are pouring down my cheeks, also. I feel faint. I reach out for Jeshua’s follower and he helps me to remain standing. Jeshua backs away from Abraham, and musses-up his hair. ‘The Father has Blessed you, My son,’ He says and now is walking further down the path. The follower asks if I will be alright, and I tell him I think so. He is also moving along the path, following Jeshua. Abraham and I are hugging each other. We are still crying.”

Eye was so mesmerized by the revelation that it took a few moments for it to register that Clippers had stopped talking.

‘How do I follow that?’ she asked herself. “Is there anyone in your current lifetime that you recognize who is there in the crowd waiting for Jeshua?”

“Please tell me their name then and today.”

“Abraham is Max Winston, my son.”

“I am now going to slowly bring you out of your hypnotic trance. On the count of ten, you will be wide-awake and feeling refreshed, and you will be able to remember most of what has taken place during our session today. One ...... two ...... three ...... you are beginning to feel more awake, four ...... five ...... six ...... seven ...... you are almost totally awake, eight ...... nine ...... ten. Wake up!”

Clippers stretched her arms, yawned, and opened her eyes.

Eye handed her the two CDs. “I believe that we just experienced the most rewarding regression session that I can ever remember, Clippers. You truly are Blessed.”

What is your favorite thing about being a writer?

There are many things I like about being an author or writer, but if I have to pick one favorite I guess it is the feedback from readers who say things like: Wow, I really enjoyed reading your book/article. Touching people’s lives makes the work all worthwhile.

What genre(s) do you write?

Spirituality mystery/romance fiction.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Writing comes pretty easy to me most of the time. Promoting it is the hardest function of an author, in my opinion.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

Definitely a pantser. Sometimes I start a chapter heading here and along the way I get hijacked and end up over there. The same thing happened with Soul Awakening manuscript. It did not end up anything like what I thought it would be when I started.

Why do you think people should choose your books over another author?

The area of spirituality that I write in is not common. Soul Awakening is fiction but it was inspired by actual events in the lives of a number of people, many of which I know personally. If a reader is curious about the possibility of survival of the soul and spirit after the death of a body, and reincarnation of souls, then Soul Awakening is definitely an eye opener.

What do you hope readers take with them after reading one of your stories?

We do not just have ‘one life to live’. Reincarnation is real.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

The most important function of our life is to be of service to others, not to enjoy life or get rich.

How long have you been a writer?

Almost four years, full time.

How much time did it take from writing your first book to having it published?

Five or six months.

What other careers have you had?

High school teacher.

Do you write under more than one name? Why?

No. I am me and I am not ashamed of what I write.

Are any of your characters based on real people or events?

The characters are fictional but I did give the main character, Dacque LaRose, a number of my characteristics. Most of the events are real.

How would you describe yourself if you were “speed dating” your readers?

You may never have heard of me before, but you will never forget me and my message after reading Soul Awakening.

What’s something fans would find fascinating about you?

I receive guidance from the other side.

What else would you like readers to know about you or your work?

I believe the message in the stories I write. The story is fiction but the message is not.

What books or authors have most influenced your life?

The over 15,000 archived readings and over 300 books, including over 30 biographies by and or about the legendary American mystic, Edgar Cayce, have been my primary inspiration.

How do your family and/or friends feel about your book or writing venture in general?

Most of them share my beliefs and are very supportive.

Where are you from?

Ontario, Canada in the warm weather and Florida in the winter months. We call it the best of both worlds.

How do you come up with the titles?

I have found that my anticipated title never survives the manuscript writing as the story glances off into adventures I never dreamed of when I started. The last thing I do is pick a title.

Has your life changed significantly since becoming a published writer?

I thought I was retired, but it turns out I just changed occupations.

Do you work on one project at a time? Or do you multi-task?

I try to work on one book at a time, but when I have completed the first draft I like to let it sit for a number of months and come back to it later for a fresh look. In between I can start another project.

When not writing, how do you relax?

I do not have a specific hobby, such as golf. I guess the best response would be to say that I do whatever I want that I feel like doing at the time.

Please share with us your future projects and upcoming releases.

Soul Awakening was first published by Book Locker in October of 2011. It will be rereleased by 5 Prince Publishing in October of 2012 followed by Soul Rescue in November of 2012. These will be followed by Soul Mind in January of 2013 and the yet uncompleted Soul Connections in October of 2013.

Interesting title, some of you are probably thinking, but what does he mean? My personal soul awakening provided me with the knowledge and courage to write my first novel, appropriately titled Soul Awakening. Here is my story.

Over thirty years ago, my wife introduced me to one of America’s almost-lost miracle-men. His name was Edgar Cayce. He is regarded by many scholars in the field as America’s legendary mystic. Edgar gave over fifteen thousand psychic readings in a self-induced, trance-like state. His trance state was so deep that, in the early days of his amazing medical readings, a group of doubting Doctors performed their own sadistic experiments on him to prove he was duping his clients. One Doctor took his pocketknife and slid it fully under one of Edgar’s fingernails. He never reacted and there was no blood. Another sadist poked a hatpin right through Edgar’s cheek. He never reacted, but there may have been a drop of blood. But, as you can imagine, when Edgar came out of his trance state, all hell broke loose!

Throughout approximately forty years Edgar gave over ten thousand medical readings for people, some of whom Edgar never met and who were located a thousand or more miles away at the time of the reading. On occasion, in his deep trance state, Edgar prescribed treatments and remedies that had not yet been invented.

As amazing as the medical readings were, it was Edgar’s life or reincarnation readings that seized my attention.  Some two thousand real live individuals, or their guardians, requested approximately twenty-five hundred life readings where they were given information on a few of their previous incarnations, specifically those ones which were significant to their understanding of the reasons for their souls selecting the particular bodies that they resided in, in their current incarnations. Reincarnated souls that appeared in Edgar’s readings went as far back as the days of Adam and Eve, and included the souls of Mary Magdalene, Thomas Jefferson and Martha Washington, to name just a few.

Once certain individuals, seriously interested in researching ‘the-other-side,’ were convinced that Edgar was the real deal; they asked inquisitive questions about Creation and many other topics. One answer, significant to our story, is Edgar’s account of the Creation of souls. In brief, think of God as an enormous energy field that can think. After God Created and evolved the Earth with its animals and numerous other creatures, but no humans, God realized that He had done a pretty good job but He was lonely. Man had not been in the original plan, so for company, God Created a calculated explosion in His energy field and all souls were Created at the same time from the God-Energy. There is much more to this story, but in a nutshell, God Created humans as residences where souls could experience ‘life’. Souls incarnate time and time again until they learn the required lessons to become God-like once more.

After years of researching the Edgar Cayce readings, I ‘had’ to verify my beliefs so I enlisted the services of a licensed hypnotist and experienced four past-life regression sessions and uncovered a number of my past lifetimes.

Now one hundred percent convinced of reincarnation, I commenced to write my reincarnation articles in 2010, using the Edgar Cayce readings. I parlayed my knowledge and experience and, with some helpful guidance from the other side along the way, wrote my first novel, Soul Awakening. It is a work of fiction but was inspired by a series of actual events. Probably all of the major events reported in Soul Awakening have been experienced by me, by individuals I know, confided to me or individuals I know, or revealed in the Edgar Cayce readings. Four of the incarnations uncovered by the characters in Soul Awakening are my actual past lifetimes, right down to the name and location.
